The Manager R&D oversees research and development project work to implement process and product improvements. This role will direct the technical work of assigned product groups and collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilitie:

  • Manage testing of materials and products, including physical, chemical, and analytical testing methods.

  • Develop new test methods to meet emerging needs of the business.

  • Oversee and verify statistical methods to analyze results to determine properties and/or combinations of materials that will improve quality of the products.

  • Prepare technical manuals, operations manuals, and technical reports.

  • Consult with the manufacturing plants ontesting procedures, preparation methods, process controls, and production matters as needed.

  • Drive process of continuous independent testing of manufactured and sourced products and response to non-compliance.

  • Provide oversight of quality as it relates to R&D test work and production of new products.

  • Support Dal-Tile interaction with Industry technical groups.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

  • 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1-3 years of management experience.

  • Prior project management experience preferred.

  • Able to set up, run and/or interpret results from a wide variety of laboratory test equipment.

  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.

  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player and able to handle multiple projects at once.

High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures
