Dal-Tile is currently seeking an exceptional Safety and Health Specialist to join our TEAM! As Safety and Health Specialists, we need someone who is ready to provide a variety of support such as plans and delivers training programs for management and employees on relevant accident prevention and compliance programs. Conducts new employee orientation in connection with company goals and requirements. Trains new hires for up to one week, in all aspects of job-related duties including: picking, receiving, put away, and checking

Primary Objective

Develops, plans and implements organization throughout the safety and facilities teams to comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

Major Function and Scope

Develops and implements safety policies in compliance with local, state, federal and company Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations

Conduct worksite assessments to identify and evaluate safety, health risk, and compliance exposures. Develops and implements strategies to reduce or eliminate these risks and exposures

Plans and delivers training programs for management and employees on relevant accident prevention and compliance programs. Conducts new employee orientation in connection with company goals and requirements. Trains new hires for up to one week, in all aspects of job-related duties including: picking, receiving, put away, and checking

Coordinates facility Central Health and Safety committee\subcommittees and facilitates the continuous improvement process

Conducts analyses of accident causes and health hazards to be used to target specific prevention strategies. Prepares and maintains required documentation of incident reports, statistical analysis for use as required by company personnel or outside agencies. Investigates and tracks job injuries and lost workdays and maintains OSHA log, documentation, records and activities

Manage administration of the workers’ compensation program, including working with insurance carrier and health professionals to reduce the duration of disability through application of various light duty and return-to-work programs

Ensure regulatory compliance with all environmental regulations such as: preparation and submittal of Tier II and HAZMAT information as required along with leading facilities\company Green Directive

Provide management and hands-on support to operations as required, position serves as critical part of the sites Senior Leadership Team. May require off-shift hours to be worked as necessary.

Develop, implement and manage maintenance programs for facility

Manage facilities contractor program, ensuring all contractors have been qualified through the company contractor approval program

Performs other related duties as required

Experience and Knowledge Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Science or Management. Candidates with professional certification (CSP, CIH, etc) a plus.

5+ years combined experience in safety and health. Training development and presentation experience.

Strong background in general warehousing/logistics preferred.

Competencies

Core competencies include strong interpersonal, communication and training skills. Must possess excellent planning, administrative and organizational skills as well as data analysis and interpretation skills. Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Must have working knowledge of SAP system and a general understanding of the learning management system. Ability to prepare training materials when needed.
