The Materials Manager - Quartz develops new material sources and maintains existing materials. Sets processes and standards related to all incoming Raw Materials and drives improvement for Quartz facility.
Develops and maintains key material management processes.
Develops, maintains and reports on all Raw Material related capital projects and cost reduction summaries and assures that savings are driven through the financial results.
Directs plant teams to optimize the deployment of capital to maximize returns.
Participates and drives kaizen change activities to improve plant costs.
Develops new strategies for material transport and storage as needed to reduce cost.
Researches, reconciles and develops Raw Material standards.
Assists with material related quality issues and coordinates between the vendor and Plant technical teams.
Responsible for standardizing and assisting Production Manager with process improvements with success measured by process reliability.
Coordinates and oversees hiring and training identified in technical areas using internal and external resources.
Assists and recommends equipment related to the storage, handling and processing of raw materials.
Assists in new product start-ups in manufacturing.
Establishes, maintains and analyzes budgets, records, and other controls to keep costs at a minimum consistent with efficient operations.
Performs other related duties as required.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Manufacturing engineering or finance background preferred.
Knowledge of ISO 9000.
5-8 years operations experience strongly prefer a background in Silica or Quartz processing or mining.
Strong technical background in tile/ceramic industry and ISO Quality Systems.
Experience implementing change using kaizen exercises preferred.
Core competencies include strong communication skills, organization, data analysis and interpretation, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and Access databases. Ability to establish and coordinate priorities. Strong customer service ability and previous quality control experience. Ability to apply analytical skills and become certified as a black belt
