The Manager Audit & Claims is responsible for the daily activities of the claims and audit departments. The Audit & Claims group is responsible for receiving tile products from customers to validate or invalidate claims, to determine if they meet quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify evaluation strategy and determine validity of product quality complaints based on comparison of complaint samples to product masters or comparison of performance measurements to product specifications.

  • Work directly with sales and manufacturing to support resolution of customer complaints and improvement of product quality.

  • Direct activity of claims and audit technicians to meet team performance objectives.

  • Continually improve claims and audit processes to drive timeliness, consistency and quality of information reported.

  • Interface with test laboratory to obtain product performance information from samples submitted for claim evaluation.

  • Interface with Claims Council to support executive involvement for critical claim issues.

  • Maintain awareness of inventory placed on quality hold due to claim and audit activity and work with responsible parties to assure timely disposition of the material.

  • Direct selection of products for audit to maximize opportunity to capture suspect material.

  • Assure audit lab technicians are properly trained in product audit practices, RDC policies, safety policies, lift truck operation, data collection and communication of audit activity.

  • Assure claim lab technicians are properly trained in claim practices, shipping procedures, master library management practices, safety policies, lift truck operation, data collection and communication of claim activity.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Knowledge:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science (B. S.) in related engineering field and/or sufficient related work experience

Experience:

  • 5 or more years in quality management, customer service or ceramic tile manufacturing

  • Previous work experience involving product claims or product quality audit

  • Knowledge of quality systems and ceramic product testing equipment and testing methods

  • Familiarity with ANSI A137.1, ANSI A137.2, ANSI A137.3, ANSI A108-A118, TCNA Handbook and related ASTM test methods.

  • Previous supervisory/management experience preferred

  • Knowledge of Dal-Tile products preferred

  • Six Sigma or Lean Sigma training preferred

    Competencies:

  • Ability to apply quality control procedures and defect analysis in the manufacturing of ceramic tile

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Strong leadership and team building skills

  • Computer skills including office applications and Microsoft Access query design

  • Ability to multi-task and make sound decisions

  • Visual acuity needed for detection of defects and judgment of product shade

  • Occasional heavy lifting may be required
