Dal-Tile is currently searching for a Cost Accountant. You will administer and coordinate accounting for detailed sourced product standard cost data. This position will work with vast amounts of data and compile it into a usable format. Product Managers will work closely with you to set cost standards on purchased products. This position gives the opportunity to ensure cost compliance is adhered to. The Cost Accountant will utilize their analytical skills to identify variances in costs and set standards. Store Managers and Finance rely on the data to manage price variances which are essential to the success of Dal-Tile. The ideal candidate is fascinated by puzzles and has a knack for solving them.
Coordinates, compiles, analyzes, calculates cost data, to maintain the standard cost of the purchased product.
Conducts regular, testing to verify the accuracy of system standards for internal and external customers.
Records and reviews cost calculations with management, to ensure consistency with the selling price.
Monitors purchase price variances to standards during month-end close, to ensure the accuracy of financial statements by item, component, and purchase
Reconciles and researches variance issues, determines causes and coordinates/drives corrections.
Manages accrual accounting components used on landed cost purchases.
Provides management with reports on monthly purchase activity including purchase price variance
Monitors and reports relevant inventory activity from the inventory system.
Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned.
Education and Knowledge:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent Cost Accounting experience.
3 to 5 years accounting experience including standard cost calculation, variance analysis and monitoring inventory system results.
SAP system experience required.
JDE experience a plus.
Manufacturing industry experience a plus.
Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel and Access including model building
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, to interact with all levels of management, and explain cost variances.
Ability to manage large volume of transactions.
