OVERVIEW:

Directly supervises 2 to 4 employees and indirectly supervises 75 to 230 employees. Direct Quality Control, glaze preparation, technical operations, process reliability and improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates new process technologies and advises Production Manager on technical operations

  • Ensures corrective measures are taken to maintain product quality standards

  • Supervises process improvement research and new product introduction and monitors the research of new materials to improve processes and reduce costs

  • Directs Quality Control audits and coordinates corrective actions when audits reveal operations outside control plan specifications

  • Oversees body and glaze formulations for the process

  • Resolves technical problems with regards to shade variations, glaze defects, application problems and other problems as needed

  • Establishes standards and assists Production Manager with process improvements with success measured by process reliability

  • Coordinates and oversees necessary training identified in technical areas using internal and external resources

  • Serves as liaison between R&D / Marketing / Production regarding new product start-ups

  • Researches and reconciles customer issues regarding manufactured products

  • Establishes calibration of plant technical quality control equipment

  • Ensures safe and healthy working conditions and ensures an organized work environment

  • Establishes, maintains, and analyzes budgets, records, and other controls to keep costs at a minimum consistent with efficient operations

  • Coaches and reviews performance of direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Bachelors degree in Industrial Management, Industrial Technology, Industrial Chemistry or Business and 4 years of supervisory/operations experience in the ceramic tile industry. Experience must include 4 years of experience in each of the following: inkjet printers used in ceramic tile decoration, as well as glazes and inks; ceramic tile processes and factors affecting efficiency and quality; 2 years of experience troubleshooting production problems by identifying root causes and implementing solutions; and 1 year of experience in each of the following: hydraulic and electrical manufacturing equipment; safety and health compliance; and calculating machine settings and material requirements, using concepts of algebra and engineering. Experience may be gained concurrently. In lieu of the stated bachelors degree, employer will accept a bachelors equivalence based on a combination of education, training and/or experience as determined by a professional evaluation service. 10% travel to company plants located in Muskogee, OK; Dickson, TN; Dallas, TX; Lewisport, KY; Fayette, AL; and Gettysburg, PA required.
